Young J. J.
ABSTRACT:
Currently, skippers, members of the Hesperiidae family, are usually identified by dissecting ther genitalia. It is suggested that skippers can be readily identified by examing the colouration and pattern on the head capsules of larvae. This paper explores the characteristics on the colouration and pattern on head capsules of larvae as an alternative tool for identifying skippers.
KEYWORDS:
Skippers; Hesperiidae; identification; genitalia; larval stage; life history; sexual dimorphism.
