I take it that is a whale of sorts? But what is it up to? I can't seem to figure out what it is doing.

I think it's Pierre falling off his lilo into the 'cool' water

What were you doing that side of the world Pierre? From Beira to the antartic... eish... (met eish ja...)

My brother in law has been once or twice I believe - with SAS Tafelberg / Drakensberg when he was a matroos.

And yes, the fishpaste is correct, except that it's more to do with my real name ha ha. LOL @ Botanist's bum - now that is funny!

By the way, Hifi corp has the Nikon D3000 with 18-55 lens and 55-200 lens... for R6k

I am seriously tempted to buy it 'for my wife' but I think she wants her kitchen first...

The beast is a Humpback Whale, just a bit bigger than a buterfly. He is bubble feeding. They blow a circular curtain of bubbles around the shoel of krill and then come up in the middle. The bubbles concentrate the krill so that they get a bigger mouthful. Krill is a shrimplike beastie.

What you're seeing there is the whale with his mouth wide open, coming straight at me. (Same lens I use for butterflies, I might add.) The bright pink is the roof of his mouth.

I'm a marine biologist. At the moment I am a fisheries advisor to the Mozambique government, hence Beira. My true love is the Antarctic. I work as a lecturer/guide on an expedition ship calle the 'Polar Star' I try to spend two months a year down South and if I can a month or so in the Arctic. This all helps to keep me sane. (Well, sort of)
