Let's start a thread of the photographers' best 'nearly' shots those ones that make you speak a word of power when they happen, and you end up with a blurred flying insect or worse, a butterfly's rear end and that's all!

I'll start off with this Variable Diadem Hypolimnas anthedon I was stalking last weekend near Politsi. I managed to get an underside shot... but the upperside eluded me again!

Nice one!

Pity you didn't get the whole butterfly in - upper side shots of Aloeides are difficult!

Cheers

Nearly! A shot of a Large Flat (Celaenorrhinus mokeezi) taken on the recent Lepsoc SABCA surveying trip to Hluhluwe Umfolozi Game Reserve in KZN.

Here's another 'nearly' shot - a male Thestor murrayi (Murray's Skolly) at Spitskop near Knysna, in flight from the perch he was on when I tried to shoot him!

Cheers!
