Publications
Several publications have been published by members of LepSoc in the past. These range from the most extensive books such as Pennington's Butterflies of Southern Africa (which is unfortunately now out of print), to field guides such as Steve Woodhall's Field Guide to Butterflies of South Africa, to comprehensive lists of foodplants, etc. The society also has its own journal, Metamorphosis, which has four editions annually and contains scientific articles, as well as interesting observations, trip reports and humorous articles.
These publications is divided into 4 groups, namely:
- Metamorphosis
- Books and e-books
- LepSoc News
- Other publications such as posters, etc.

Chrysoritis williami nom. n. replaces the junior homonym Poecilmitis discksoni W. H. Henning, 1977. Morphological information of all Aphnaeini genera is given, including illustrations of male genitalia. Information is given on larval host-plants and associated ants, including many which were previously unpublished.
KEY WORDS:
Lepidoptera, Lycaenidae, Lycaeninae, Theclinae, Aphnaeini, Chrysoritis, systematic revision, taxonomic arrangement, life histories, host-plants, myrmecophily, genitalia, Afrotropical region.

IDENTIFYING SKIPPERS AT LARVAL STAGE (LEPIDOPTERA: HESPERIIDAE)
Authors
Young J. J.
ABSTRACT:
Currently, skippers, members of the Hesperiidae family, are usually identified by dissecting ther genitalia. It is suggested that skippers can be readily identified by examing the colouration and pattern on the head capsules of larvae. This paper explores the characteristics on the colouration and pattern on head capsules of larvae as an alternative tool for identifying skippers.
KEYWORDS:
Skippers; Hesperiidae; identification; genitalia; larval stage; life history; sexual dimorphism.
