Why join Lepsoc Africa?
If you've found our site, chances are you're curious about butterflies and moths and decided to have a look. As you can see, some parts of the site are hidden to non-members. We haven't done this to be difficult; we just want to ask people to contribute to the Society so we can improve our services and achieve our objectives.
Membership
Who may join
Membership of the Lepidopterists’ Society of Africa is open to all that has an interest in African butterflies and moths. There is no geographical limit but membership fees are linked to geographical position due to postage and currency exchange rates.

How to register

Step 2: Fill in the member registration form
This will create your member profile.
You will be asked to create a username and password for site access.
Step 3: Choose your payment process
Based on your profile, your membership fee will be calculated and you will be directed to the appropriate payment process.
Credit card: You will be sent to the 2Checkout site for immediate payment.
Direct deposit: You will be provided with banking details for you to make payment. In case something goes wrong and you cannot re-access the page, our banking details are:
Nedbank Florida branch code 190-541 a/c no. 1905032617; Lepidopterists' Society of Africa. Make a payment and e-mail a copy to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
Please note:
We will appreciate it if local members use the direct deposit route to pay. 2Checkout is offered mainly for the convenience of non-SA members, so they do not have to worry about forex transactions. But it is a very expensive option for us compared to direct deposit for local payments. We lose a chunk of your subs in payment charges that is larger than normal SA bank charges.
And, whilst it is the best option for forex payment, 2Checkout has on occasions been buggy. So if you use this and hit a snag, please see the note at the bottom - let us know ASAP so we can fix the problem!
Step 4: Your membership will be activated
Credit card: Your membership is activated immediately, and you may log in.
Direct deposit: You will need to wait for us to track your payment and manually activate your account on the site.
You will receive email notifications at each step of the process.
Step 5: Login

Lepsoc - the vision for the next ten years
This is the text of a position paper given in the President's Address at the 2010 AGM and Conference, entitled 'Vision 2020'. It sets out to describe where the Society could be by the year 2020, if we take advantage of the opportunities we have as a result of the success of SABCA.
